Last weekend we held a course in clay building where the participants used their creativity and artistic vein. As the clay plastered walls in the strawbale cabin took shape, beautiful patterns and ornaments emerged. Inside the cabin it was completely silent. Each and everyone deep in dialogue with the clay and the wall. A wonderfully committed group and knowledgeable instructor. Now that the walls have dried we can put colour on them with pigmented clay.
Åke Wikström was scheduled to come down next weekend and hold an organic farming course. But the vegetable garden is still covered with snow and so we’ve had to move the course to May 3-5. A farming course taking place indoors by the fire would neither be instructive nor inspire more subsistence farming.
Yesterday we had 75 dinner guests from Hushållningssällskapet (an agricultural society) in Kristianstad. We offered them mushroom strudel with pilaw rice (seasoned with onions, garlic, turmeric, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and raisins), herb sauce and salad dressed with pumpkin oil. For dessert there was apple pie with cinnamon whipped cream. With the help of a few of the guests serving went really well. Every chair, knife, fork, glass etc came to use. It’s lucky we’ve been to so many flea markets over the years. 🙂
