On Ecotopia the new year started

Yesterday was February 1 and Ecotopia opened again. But already in the first month of this year there happened a lot! We were working on our first ECG financial statements and certification. ECG – The Economy for the Common Good is a move for an alternative market economy, but also a concrete tool for making sustainability reports. Here you can read more. Applications have streamed in and the organic cultivation course has for the first time passed the strawbalebuildingcourse. At

Long queues and empty stores...

On Friday it was time for a theme evening. The event was about organic garden box cultivation and how to get a rich harvest from the smallest area. The number of participants dramatically exceeded expectations. Then the basic course in organic farming began. The participants were very pleased with it, so we have already planned the same course next spring 🙂 I am taking this opportunity to post photos of Lena Stenberg’s Easter show, ‘Seiten’s Land’, for those who missed

Tomorrow, representatives of another Swedish party, namely “Centerpartiet”, is comig. They represent the rural areas. Then the spring-events starts, one after the other … Also the resettlement in the newly built strawbale house is on turn however … .outside it snows quite a lot. It is so beautiful! That is why we are waiting for the

2017 is just around the corner...

There is now a newly-built straw bale house on Ecotopia waiting for a response from the municipality. Building planning and control were here to do a final inspection. It is pure pleasure to go in and take a break in a building that one has planned in detail. It is outstanding 🙂 But without Ryszard there would not have been a house. After the inspection, it was therefore time to thank the world’s best construction workers, who built the straw

After an incredible summer Ecotopia is shifting from having ecotourists living on the farm to welcoming course participants and groups to the Knowledge Centre. The eco-tourists have come from, in addition to Sweden, Germany, Holland, Austria and Denmark. They had a lot in common, with matters of sustainability in focus and their ‘sustainable’ involvement in construction, medical care, school, etc., which led to many wonderfully deep conversations and discussions this summer. All summer we had a guided tour and, not

One day, four periods.

One day, four periods.

Just as with the year and its four seasons, my life today is comprised of four time periods. I alternate between business, cultivation, the renovation of the skånelänge, and the straw house build. Today I have, in addition to working in the office, which occupies the largest share of time, planted artichokes, harvested asparagus, picked out glazing bars in the conservatory, planned the pattern for tiling in the bathroom, ordered wallpaper and cooked chocolate mousse cakes. The skånelänga is being

Restart at the eco-café

The website was offline through both Easter and beyond. Hackers from Ukraine/USA had been very active, so we spent many nights at the computer cleaning up and building up the website again. A growing challenge of today. Now we know how difficult it is for everyone who’s affected! A HUGE THANK YOU to all customers who remained patient and did not give up! In May we restart the eco-café with new dishes in a new atmosphere. Besides vegetarian food we

Now you can feel that spring is on her way. This week we had the group ‘Energy on farms’ (Energi på lantgård) on a study visit. We had exciting discussions about solar warming, glue-laminated beams and whether self-subsistent households really have a future. It was interesting to meet energy-aware farmers and it is the dialogue between us people that is most important. Just so we can develop through and with each other. Afterwards a food appreciation group came to learn

NB! Clay mixture and another new beginning

After a wonderfully warm and communicative holiday I managed to keep myself offline until 11 January. Three weeks without the internet 😉 The wisest thing I’ve done in years. The inner calm, the presence and authenticity that arose set my zest for life to flowing freely. Maybe worth a try?? The year began with the planning of the kitchen. Went to Ikea with drawings and measurements. There are, of course, digital tools that allow us to avoid drawing with pen

Calendar 2016

Calendar 2016

The calendar is now on the website. There will be a lot permaculture and many cooking classes next year. Raw Food appears among the courses and in the kitchen too. Sustainable health is, as usual, an important component. The program also includes sustainable personal finance, biological wastewater solutions, environmentally-friendly painting, beekeeping, solar energy etc. The calendar reflects what we think is important for the co-creation of a sustainable future. Imagine if we had already reached that point in society. If
